Rhode Island Red (Female-Coop Ready) SPECIAL ORDER
These juveniles will be 6-12 weeks old and are ready to go straight into the coop.
Rhode Island Reds are held in such high esteem that they're the official Rhode Island state bird. They were once hugely popular in America, though they declined right along with the small farmer. Today they're making a comeback due to small flock owners (like us!). They're the do-everything bird: they lay exceptionally well, they're valued for their meat, mild temperament, and hardiness. In fact, if you're not certain what type of bird to raise in your climate, chances are, the Rhode Island Reds will do well. Sadly, White Rhode Islands don't enjoy nearly the same popularity despite all their redeeming characteristics.
They mature at 24 weeks and produce 275-325 light brown eggs per year.
This breed has less interest than some of the other breeds we carry so we typically don't have these birds on hand. We feel they are a solid variety and are happy to order them if you would like to add them to your flock. Please contact us if you would like to order this breed so we can ensure availability.
