How it happens:
The pig is raised here on our farm and we will deliver the live animal to the butcher. Once the pig is dropped off it is quickly and humanely euthanized and then the processing will begin. The facility has been inspected and is up to date on any codes needed to process meat safely.
We will pay the dispatching and processing costs and you will receive a call to either pick up your meat or we can arrange delivery for an additional fee.
A 50% non refundable deposit is due at the time of order and the balance is due upon picking up the meat.
Prices are as follows (2018):
Whole hog $800 (including up to 20lb smoked/cured cuts)
Half hog $450 (including up to 10lb smoked/cured cuts)
Quarter hog (call for availability and pricing)
Our pigs are raised here on our farm and are fed grains, wet and dry alfalfa and live barley fodder that we grow. Males are castrated at 4 weeks to cause the least amount of stress as possible. Tails are not docked, ears are not notched. We have never had to use antibiotics, appetite stimulating drugs or unnatural de-wormers on our pigs before but if that is ever necessary, those pigs will be marked and disclosed to the potential buyer. *We NEVER have and NEVER will use any hormones of any kind on our farm.*
We are currently raising heritage purebred Tamworth gilts as breeders and we also have some Hereford Duroc crosses.
