These chicks will be 1-5 weeks old and will still need access to some sort of heat source to warm up until they are fully feathered.
The Buff variety of Orpington is a beautiful tan/orange/yellow color. They are very soft and fluffy feeling. Orpingtons are big, friendly dual-purpose birds originally developed in the UK. For many small farms and homesteaders, Orpingtons are the only way to go! Wonderful mothers, they do go broody. There is not much more charming than seeing a mother Orpington and her fluffy new baby chicks peeking from beneath her wings in a field of clover on a sunny day.
They mature at 24 weeks and produce 250-275 light brown large eggs per year.
